 Four years after his passing in 2021, avant-garde composer Alvin Lucier continues to create music—thanks to a groundbreaking fusion of neuroscience and art.

In a project titled Revivification, scientists and artists cultivated cerebral organoids from Lucier’s reprogrammed blood cells.
These mini-brains, housed at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, generate electrical signals that activate mallets striking brass plates, producing haunting, real-time compositions.   
Lucier, renowned for integrating brainwaves into his compositions, collaborated on this project before his death, aiming to extend his musical legacy beyond life.
The installation not only challenges our understanding of creativity and consciousness but also exemplifies the enduring impact of innovative artistry.
